Madrid

Madrid companies and agencies trust Pickr for recruiting intelligence

Banks, consultancies, multinational tech hubs and recruitment agencies in Madrid compete for the same engineers, analysts and product people. Pickr gives you a scored shortlist in minutes, interviews with structure, and match reasoning you can put in front of a client or a hiring committee.

Madrid is where Spain's largest companies keep their headquarters and where most international groups run their Spanish, and often their Latin American, business. Banks and insurers, telecom and energy groups, infrastructure and construction firms, the Spanish offices of the big consultancies and the Big Four, and the engineering hubs that global tech companies have opened in the city all hire from the same pool. Add a dense startup scene, a growing cluster of data center and cybersecurity teams, and the shared-service centers that serve entire corporate groups, and you get a market where the same software engineer, data analyst or compliance specialist has a bank, a consultancy and a US tech hub bidding at the same time.

That makes hiring in Madrid fast on paper and slow in practice. Notice periods are short by European standards, so a candidate who accepts elsewhere is gone within weeks, and the good ones are always talking to someone else. Consultancies hire in volume and move quickly; in-house teams and agencies that take two weeks to return feedback lose the candidate to the firm that took two days. On top of that, a large share of the talent Madrid attracts comes from Latin America and from other Spanish regions, so recruiters are judging degrees, employers and job titles they do not know, in CVs that arrive in Spanish, in English and in a mix of both. Speed, structure and reasoning you can defend are not extras here. They are how you close.

Market snapshot

Hiring in Madrid at a glance

Key sectors
Banking and insurance, telecom, energy and utilities, infrastructure and construction, consulting and professional services, software and tech hubs, pharma, tourism and hospitality.
Typical employers
Spanish corporate headquarters, Spanish and Latin American subsidiaries of multinationals, engineering hubs of global tech companies, consultancies and the Big Four, public administration, scale-ups, and staffing and recruitment agencies of every size.
Talent pool
Deep and young: graduates of the Complutense, the Politécnica, Carlos III and the Autónoma, business-school alumni, and professionals arriving from the rest of Spain and from Latin America. Strong in engineering, finance and consulting; scarce at the senior end of software, data and security.
Languages of business
Spanish first. English in tech hubs, multinationals and any role that faces clients across borders. Portuguese, Italian and French turn up in teams serving Latin America and southern Europe.
Hiring dynamics
Competitive for engineering, data, product and cybersecurity, where multinational hubs and consultancies outbid local employers. High-volume hiring in consulting, customer operations and shared services runs alongside slow, careful searches for senior finance and management roles.
Remote and relocation
Hybrid is the norm in tech and professional services. Madrid draws professionals from Latin America and the rest of Spain, and competes with Barcelona, Lisbon and fully remote roles at foreign employers for the same senior profiles.

How Pickr helps

What Madrid teams get with Pickr

A scored shortlist in minutes, starting with the pool you already have

Describe the role the way you would in the brief with the client or the hiring manager. Pickr finds and scores matching candidates from your own database and beyond in minutes, measured against the real requirements of the job instead of keywords. Related skills count, so someone who solved the same problem at a bank in Bogotá or a consultancy in Valencia is not filtered out because the exact tool name is missing from the CV.

Match reasoning you can explain to the client or the hiring committee

Every recommendation comes with the why: which requirements are met, which are missing, and what that judgment is based on. Agencies put that reasoning in front of the client. In-house teams put it in front of the hiring committee or the compliance function. Qualifications are recorded as verified, and every completed hire makes the next shortlist for that profile sharper, so accuracy improves the longer you use it.

Structured interviews without slowing your interviewers down

Every role gets interview questions tailored to the job. Conversations are transcribed live, the scorecards fill themselves in, and every candidate is measured against the same criteria, whether the interviewer sits in Madrid or dials in from São Paulo. Interviewer and hiring-manager seats are free, so the business is in the room without anyone negotiating licenses.

Client portals and automation for Madrid agencies

Several clients, several pipelines, one system. Your clients see where their candidates stand in their own portal and leave feedback there instead of by email, at no extra cost. Follow-ups, interview slots and status updates are drafted for you. Bring your existing database over from Bullhorn, Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby with one click, or from anything else via CSV. And if your team already works in Claude or ChatGPT, connect it via MCP and run the pipeline from the chat.

EU-hosted in Germany

Candidate data and the application itself run in Frankfurt, Germany, inside the EU. Pickr is GDPR compliant, a data processing agreement (DPA) is included, and names and email addresses are redacted from AI prompts by default. For Spanish companies and agencies that means candidate data never leaves the EU, and the paperwork your data protection officer asks for is ready on day one. Pickr is built in Austria by a founder who ran a recruitment agency himself.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Pickr available in Madrid?

Yes. Pickr is a cloud application and works in Madrid and across Spain without any installation. Onboarding, data import and support run remotely in English, and the team works in the same time zone as you. All you need is a browser and a brief for the first role you want to fill.

Where is candidate data stored?

In Frankfurt, Germany, inside the EU. Both the candidate data and the application run there. Pickr is GDPR compliant, a data processing agreement is included, and names and email addresses are redacted from AI prompts by default. We do not offer hosting in Spain itself, and we say so plainly: the location is Frankfurt, which satisfies EU data-residency requirements for Spanish employers and agencies.

Does Pickr work for recruitment agencies in Madrid?

Yes. Pickr was built by a founder who ran a recruitment agency himself. You run several clients with separate pipelines in one system, each client gets its own portal at no extra cost, and the reasoning behind every recommendation is something you can present to the client directly. For agencies placing into Madrid banks, consultancies and multinational hubs, that is what wins the next mandate.

Which languages does Pickr support?

The interface is available in English and German. Candidate data works in any language: Spanish CVs, English job briefs and Portuguese cover letters are all read, scored and searchable, and mixed-language profiles from Latin American candidates are handled the same way. Onboarding and support run in English and German.

Can we import our existing candidate database?

Yes. From Bullhorn, Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby you import with one click; from any other system via CSV. Existing candidates, past applications and your network become a searchable, scored pool from day one. Your first shortlist on Pickr starts with everything you already have, not from zero.

Do hiring managers and interviewers need a paid seat?

No. Interviewer and hiring-manager seats are free. Department heads, team leads and partners see shortlists, run interviews and fill in scorecards without a paid license. Pricing for your recruiting team is on request; book a demo and we will walk through it together.
